Coachella Festival Inspired With Wellies

Festival inspired denim shorts with a flower crown and wellies

I’ve never been to Coachella before, neither have I been to Glastonbury, but I used to go to my local music festivals when I was younger and really liked them. It’s probably a little too crowded for my liking these days and too many people all in one place for me, but I absolutely adore music. The whole wave of emotions it can give you, the way your body responds to it (like I can’t stop bopping about anytime I hear Shake It Off, ha ha), so, in light of it being Coachella right now, I thought I would do a music festival inspired outfit! The weathers been warming up nicely and it seemed really fitting!

I started out with my Topshop Crochet Denim Shorts which I paired with their white cropped top, then layered on my River Island Waterfall Cardigan as the shorts are too short to not have anything covering behind. This made the base of the look, but seeing as I live in the UK, I thought it was more suitable to add my Hunter Original Tall Gloss Wellies to the look like they do at Glastonbury, since it’s usually wet and muddy here. I’ve actually never worn shorts with my wellies before, but I think it’s something I will have to do more of!

To really accessorize it, I went with lots of jewellery from various shops like ASOS and Topshop, then chose my purple Ray-Ban Erika Velvet Sunglasses and then finally a DIY Flower Crown. I made this by attaching lots of flower clips to a hairband, so it was super easy to make! All you need are various size flower brooches or hair clips, and then just clip them to a simple head band and you have a DIY flower crown! This is pretty different to something I would usually wear, but I really love accessorizing during the warmer months and I really like how this one turned out. How many of you fashion bloggers are attending Coachella? And, what do you think of my outfit?

How To Clean Your Wellies & Rain Boots

How to clean your wellies and rain boots

A lot of you know by now that I have quite a collection of wellies/rain boots. It’s currently standing at 6 pairs, but it’s soon to be 7 with a new Damson pair on the way! Being a country girl means that I get to wear my wellies quite often as it’s usually muddy and wet around these parts of England, so I thought it would be a good idea to share tips on how to clean your wellies when they get dirty and how to get that glossy shine back!

Why is cleaning wellies so important? It is important to clean your wellies, especially ones made from natural rubber as this helps to protect the rubber from perishing. Some companies supply a treatment spray for rubber wellies to further protect them from perishing too, so it’s good to keep the rubber in tip top condition to make them last longer.

I’ve written this post with one of my good friends, Ben (who loves wellies too), so we have both shared our advice on what we do to keep our wellies in good condition and gleaming! Ben’s way is the more professional approach, going by the guidelines from Hunter Boots themselves, where as my way is the lazy persons way! Enjoy!

Tips from Ben on cleaning very muddy and dirty wellies

What you will need:
– a pair of dirty wellies!
– a bar of non perfumed and non coloured soap
– a water supply (outside tap, hose pipe or even the bath tub)
– a clean towel
– a clean dusting cloth
– a clean dish brush
– a clean dish cloth

First start by rinsing your wellies with clean water, then you need to wet your cloth and dish brush, applying soap to both pieces. Use the cloth to wipe off all the dirt from your wellies and use the dish brush to remove dirt from the soles of your too wellies, providing you have gotten them muddy. Rinse off your wellies and allow them to dry naturally or use a towel to dry most of the water off. You need to leave your wellies to dry in a cool dark and airy place away from extremes of hot and cold temperatures for at least 24 hours or until your wellies are fully dry. You can then buff off any remaining watermarks with a clean and dry dusting cloth. The above method only takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Companies that sell wellies recommend cleaning your wellies after each use, but as each pair varies from brand to brand, please refer to the manufacturers instructions supplied with your wellies.

Tips from Lorna on getting that shine back into your wellies

What you will need:
– A pair of wellies with the dirty white marks on (blooming)!
– An unscented baby wipe (or Hunter boot buffer spray plus microfiber cloth)
– Running water

My method is for cleaning the white marks off of your wellies and getting that shine back. Blooming is the term that companies use for this white film that coats your wellies after some time, this happens because the high quality, natural rubber ages and this is the residue that’s left over as the wellies get older. It’s completely normal and it is tricky to avoid, but if you want to get the glossy shine back so they look brand new, here’s how to do it.

I take an unscented baby wipe and start to buff over the wellies in circular motions to remove the white residue. I do this all over the boots until I can’t see anymore blooming and then I rinse them off under the tap and let them dry. It’s as simple as that! Hunter do have a buffing spray that you can buy and you can spritz that onto your boots and then buff them with a microfiber cloth, this does the trick too, but it’s incredibly simple to clean your wellies this way and I have been doing it with the baby wipes for years now!

Storing your wellies: Always store your wellies clean and dry, in a dark and airy place away from sunlight, artificial heat (such as radiators/heaters) and cold temperatures (don’t store your wellies outdoors in winter, keep them inside your home). I store my wellies in a boot bag inside my wardrobe. This helps prevent damage to the rubber and keep blooming at bay. Here are some tips from Hunter on how to clean your wellies below.

My Hunter Wellies & Rain Boots Collection

This post has been a long time coming! I know a lot of you wanted to see my Hunter wellies/rain boots collection though, so I have finally put one together for you all. I now have 6 pairs of Hunter wellies in total, including Navy Gloss, Cocoa Gloss, Ruby Gloss, Damson Gloss, Black Matte and Aubergine Matte. I of course would still love to expand my collection though, as I would love to add bright yellow gloss to it too! I think the bright yellow version is amazing, it would match my yellow raincoat so well. You might also like my previous post on how to clean your wellies if you are a wellies fan! Anyway, enjoy my collection photos here! I’d love to know which pair of wellies you love the most too!

Hunter Original Tall Damson Gloss

hunter-original-tall-wellies-damson-red-glossuk-blogger-hunter-original-tall-wellies-boots-damson-gloss

These are my newest wellies! I got them in a discounted sale with 30% off their RRP a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier. I was a little thrown by the colour in person when I got them out of the box as it was different to online, it has more pink undertones to it than red ones, so it’s more lighter than I was expecting, but it’s gorgeous! They look great with black and blue jeans so I can’t wait to wear them more! Buy these wellies here.

Hunter Original Tall Navy Gloss

hunter-original-gloss-tall-navy-wellies-rain-bootslorna-burford-navy-gilet-hunter-gloss-wellies

These were my very first pair of Hunter wellies and probably my favourite! I have worn them so many times on the blog and outside of the blog too, so they have been worn a huge amount. The navy was the perfect colour choice as it goes with all my jeans and is really easy to pair with everything else! I definitely recommend these over the black if you are looking for a classic staple! Buy these wellies here.

Hunter Original Short Ruby Gloss

hunter-short-ruby-gloss-wellies-wornburgundy-topshop-gilet-ag-jeans-hunter-ruby-wellies

These were my first pair of shorter Hunter wellies as I was feeling like I needed something that wasn’t quite as tall, a pair that was a little easier to wear. The colour on these is incredible and it might be my favourite out of my whole collection for colour. I even considered owning these in the tall version too, having two pairs of the same colour, but I thought that might be a bit too much! Ha ha! Buy these wellies here.

Hunter Original Tall Matte Black

black-matte-hunter-wellieslorna-burford-raindrops-of-sapphire-under-tree-fashion-blogger

Since I wear a lot of black jeans and leggings, I was in need of some black wellies to go with them, which is why I chose these ones. I didn’t like the gloss black as I felt they looked a little bit tacky for the type of outfits that I wear, so picking the matte option was the best choice for me. I’ve worn these loads too and I took them in a size bigger so I could wear them with thicker socks in the cold months! Buy these online here.

Hunter Original Tall Cocoa Gloss

hunter-wellies-cocoa-brownwellies-outfit-hunter

Next we have my brown ones! I was looking for a nice pair of brown wellies to go with a lot of my brown accessories, but I wasn’t able to find anything other than the dark chocolate. I finally found the older Cocoa shade and I thought it was perfect. It varies in lights though, sometimes it can be a bean green shade, with sage undertones and then other times it’s a nice rich brown with red undertones. Buy these online here.

Hunter Original Tall Matte Aubergine

hunter-wellies-rain-boots-purplegirl-wearing-wellies-hunter-in-water

Finally we have my purple ones! These are actually quite dark in person and in lower lights can look black, but when in bright daylight they have a really nice aubergine purple shade to them as you can see. I haven’t worn these anywhere near as much as my others as I find them quite hard to match with my clothes as I don’t have many purple pieces, but I should definitely wear them more! Buy these online here.

Hunter Damson Gloss Wellies with shearling and denim

I have one last set of shots to share with you from before I had my hair cut and this is it. The look that I styled with my new Hunter Original Tall Wellies in Damson Gloss. I know you have seen a preview of these already since I shared my Hunter wellies collection with you, but you never got to see the full look. I think it might be safe to say that I am a little bit addicted to rain boots, considering how many pairs I own and how many more I want to add to my collection, but living in England means I use them frequently since it’s often raining. My wellies and rain coats are some of my go to pieces the majority of the time!

So for this outfit, I styled my wellies with my classic and trusty Citizens of Humanity Rocket jeans in Axel as I wanted black to pop with the red. These jeans have got me through everything! I always reach for them when I want a classic and clean black as I’m sure you have noticed. I then wore my leafy green long sleeve top from GAP and layered my Zara faux fur shearling jacket over the top. This outfit really reminds me of a classic country girl look and it is something that I wear quite often on my non photo days! What do you think of it and do you like my new red wellies? As always, do comment and let me know as I love reading and replying to your lovely messages!

Lets Brighten Up A Rainy Day

Petit Bateau yellow rain coat with jeans and wellies

This is a look that we shot a month or more ago, but I never got around to posting it just yet. When it’s raining and gloomy outside, there’s nothing I love more than brightening up my look with lots of colour to really make me smile. Most people tend to opt for grey and black on rainy days, but I say go bold. It just adds some fun to a miserable day, so that’s what I did with these primary colours!

I wore my new Petit Bateau yellow rain coat which has been an absolute life saver! I was wearing it constantly whenever I went out as it’s so comfortable, has a gorgeous lining, is so bright and it’s completely waterproof, so really, what more could you ask for in a jacket? I took an XS in it, but I think I could have even done an XXS as it does tend to run big, but I think that’s normal for a raincoat since you wear layers underneath. Unlike most rain coats though, since this ones fabric lined, it doesn’t make you sweat!

I paired it with my Citizens of Humanity Rocket Crop jeans in Aura, a simple burgundy tank top and my trusty Hunter Original Tall wellies in Navy Gloss. Hunter Boots are an absolute must have when it’s raining, so pick a pair up when you next get chance! You’ll honestly regret it if you haven’t got a pair. Especially living in England. You already know my Hunter boots collection is now up to 6 pairs, so they are definitely an essential if you don’t want to get wet feet and jeans! I can’t be without mine as I’m sure you have noticed. Anyway, I’d love to know what you think of my outfit! Do comment and tell me!

Dressing Up Hunter’s Heeled Chelsea Boots

Dressing up my Hunter Heeled Chelsea Rain Boots

I’m pretty sure Autumn is very much on its way now as I’m spotting leaves falling off the trees everywhere I go, as well as conkers dropping from the trees already! So what do I do when Autumn comes around? I break out my jeans and blazers and I love to wear new wellies! You probably know by now that I like to have a smart dress sense, so I like the idea of being able to dress my wellies up.

I was able to do that with my new Hunter Heeled Chelsea Boots as they have a touch of glamour to them which is perfect for the looks I like to go for. I’m very much used to my tall, flat Hunter wellies that I wear all the time, so finding a heeled pair that was ankle length was amazing! I get that they might not be the most practical, but for walking around town and wanting to look dressy while keeping your feet dry, they are ideal! I chose the matte black option too as it’s the most versatile and easy to wear with everything.

I wanted to go for an all black look so the Hunter boots would blend in nicely, so I paired Hunter boots with my James Jeans Twiggy Dancer Jeans in Black Flex Distressed to create the illusion of longer legs. The heel on these Chelsea boots is quite high, but with the thick platform at the front, I wouldn’t say the steepness of the boot is much more than 2 inches, so they are very easy to wear. I went for something a little more classy on top, choosing my ASOS Cami Top and then layering my Zara blazer (similar here) over the top to give it some structure.

It wouldn’t be one of my outfits though if I didn’t have some colour somewhere, so of course I went with my amazing rainbow umbrella (buy it here) to brighten it all up. I love the black contrast of the outfit against the pop of the intense rainbow shades. It really livens everything up! The rain was off and on when we shot these photos, but the boots are definitely waterproof in case any of you are wondering. How many of you remember this umbrella from my old fashion blog banner? And of course, please do let me know what you think of this look!

Stylish Country Girl Outfit – Get The Look

A fashionable and stylish country girl inspired outfit

When it comes to Autumn and Winter, being the country girl that I am, there’s nothing I love more than this type of country inspired outfit. Layering a warm padded gilet over a comfortable sweater and then finishing it off with some skinny jeans tucked into wellies, it kind of becomes my signature. As I have felt the first cold days of the season now, I wore a similar combination to this on Saturday and I thought it would be nice to do a get the look inspired post, so you can create a similar country outfit if you like the look. You can see the pieces I chose below, by Barbour, AG Jeans, Joules and Hunter, so it mixes a combination of fashionable and outdoor inspired brands together, to create one look.

country-autumn-fashion-outfit

When it comes to rain boots, Joules wellies have an amazing selection if you are looking for something a little more fun and quirky. I have a pair of Joules with the pink ribbons on the back, but I chose a more classic pair in navy for this look, next to a pair of burgundy wellies in case you want to switch it up. You probably already know what an avid wellies wearer I am as I have about 8 different pairs now, but I can’t be without them around these parts of the country, especially not when it’s constantly raining. These photos are from last year and earlier this year, when my hair was a lot longer, but you can guarantee I will be interpreting a similar look to these sometime soon! I love the way that it’s so comfortable and casual, but put together at the same time. What’s one of your go to outfits for Autumn?

Rockfish Metallic Tall Blush Pink Wellies Review & Outfit

Those of you who follow me on Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter (@LornaRaindrops) will know that I got some new wellies a few weeks ago, and… they aren’t Hunter! I teamed up with Rockfish which is another British wellington boot brand that I got introduced to by a friend and when I saw that they did metallic wellies, I fell head over heels in love with them. I was stuck choosing between the Rockfish Metallic Tall Blush Pink Wellies and the Champagne Gold, but in the end I went with my hearts decision and chose the pink, and I’m glad I did! When I got these out of the box I was in awe at their colour! They truly have a magical sheen to them and the pink is extremely intense.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Rockfish before, like I hadn’t, they are actually very similar to Hunter in terms of fit and sizing. I got size UK 6 in these and I take a UK 6 in Hunter as well. The shaft height is roughly the same and the comfort level might actually be a bit better since they have removable insoles as well. One thing that I did find better with these is that the circumference of the boot seems to be a little smaller, so if you have smaller calves like I do, it’s wonderful as they aren’t as gappy as Hunter boots can sometimes be. I’ve worn these numerous times now as it’s been quite rainy and everyone loves them. They get so many compliments, I definitely recommend them if you are looking for a brightly coloured pair of wellies, the Rockfish metallic blush pink is stunning!

I wanted to make this post more about the wellies than my outfit and as I wasn’t feeling great on this particular day, plus the wind was crazy, there’s only two shots of my outfit and the rest are of my Rockfish boots, but if you want to know what I was wearing, I opted for a monochrome grey outfit with the pink being the focal point. I wore my J Brand Maria High Rise Jeans in Dove with my Bishop & Young Sleeveless Sweater and my Waterfall style Cardigan, finished off with a pink umbrella to match the boots. I’m heavily into greys at the moment and I think pink goes with it nicely. I think I can say that I like these wellies just as much as my Hunter boots and maybe even a little bit more because of the colour! What do you think of them? Plus if you have any questions in regards to them, just let me know below!

Hunter Cocoa Gloss Wellies With Jeans At The Farm

It’s been a little while since I posted an outfit featuring wellies, the last time was November in fact so it’s been a good 5 months! I’ve been getting numerous requests to do a wellies outfit again, so I thought the next time I headed down to Farrington Farm with Adam, he can take some photos for me, which is what we did a few weeks ago. We decided to shoot the photos with the cows in the barn behind (you can’t see them all that clearly) and yes, it did stink, lol. I absolutely adore animals as you know though so when I go to the farm I love being around cows, sheep, goats, chickens… all of them!

So what was I wearing? I chose my Citizens of Humanity Rocket Crop Jeans again, as I literally always wear these for errands and most things in general. I styled them with my Oasis Jumper and then layered on my Zara Kids Coat over the top. I’ve had this coat for over a year and it’s age 13-14 in girls, but even though the sleeves are a bit short, I love it! It pairs so nicely with my Henry Hunt Plaid Scarf and my Hunter Original Tall Cocoa Gloss Wellies as the colours match up well. To finish it off, I went with my Topshop Fleece Hat, to keep me warm since it’s was windy and raining. It’s quite nice to wear something casual again on my fashion blog as I’ve been wearing a lot of dressed up looks! Let me know what you think of my outfit in the comments below!

I’ve been a fan of the Chelsea ankle boot wellington since last year as they’re so easy to wear for running errands. They’re not bulky or cumbersome in any way, and they’re cute!
